Nipper North American Kestrel

Why the name?
Try putting your finger (or anything else) near him and you will find out how he got his name.

Rehab history
Came into rehab in February 1999. Became an education bird in April 1999.

Story
Nipper, a North American Kestrel, was hit by a car at National Airport and suffered a luxated right elbow. There is no operation to restore such joint damage in kestrels. Nipper has recovered well, but is essentially non-flighted. He gets around his small flight cage easily, and is very active and alert. He is quite calm for a falcon, and makes many public appearances.
