Xena Great Horned Owl

Why the name?
Xena acts like a warrior princess.

Rehab history
After being taken by the authorities from the people who had her as a chick, Xena was turned over to RCV as an education bird in 2000.

Story

Xena was irresponsibly allowed to become fully imprinted on humans when she was very young.  Imprinting is a biological process for raptors which cannot be reversed.  Although she is a lovely, large and healthy female, she would not survive in the wild.  Xena has become comfortable making public appearances, and is a striking addition to any program.
